Home Care Service
At Cottingham Home Care LLC our primary goal is to make a significant difference in your life by being there for you during the times you need us the most.
If you or someone you care about is having trouble living at home, your solution could be as easy as getting assistance from our home health-aide services. The service is commonly used by the elderly population to make living at home easier. Not only have the elderly benefited from this service, though. Those who are recovering from illness or accidents regardless of age profit as well.
Home health aides are sometimes confused with in-home nurses. While home health aides sometimes check vitals, they mostly help with activities of daily living. You may receive help with your laundry, housecleaning, shopping or errands. Home health aides also commonly assist patients with meal preparation. For those who need support with bathing, basic hygiene, or getting dressed, home health aides can assist with that as well.
Many who begin receiving home health aide services are amazed at how much stress this takes off of their lives. There is no longer the overwhelming feeling of wondering how to get everything done. There also isn’t the concern of how to do a daily task that is too difficult given limited physical conditions.
Home health aides provide a valuable social contact for their patients. There’s a chance to interact and discuss life while everyday tasks are being completed. Sometimes home health aides assist individuals for an extended period of time. At other times, they only assist briefly as a patient recovers from a major surgery, accident or sickness.
At times, individuals have a fear of looking into getting a home health aide. They wonder if it’s proof that they are declining. We encourage you to give it a try even if you have some initial apprehension. The help you receive will make life so much easier and enjoyable for you.

Hourly Visits
Companion Care
Helping you enjoy life to the fullest
Too often, with age comes loneliness. The feeling that no one cares creeps in. Aging has a way of reminding you of family members and friends who have passed on. You can feel like you’re alone.
It’s our mission at Cottingham Home Care LLC to alleviate that loneliness and bring joy and companionship. Our caregivers can also travel with clients, providing transportation to the theater, doctor, church or coffee shop.
Companion Care is available from 1 hour to 24 hours. It’s an excellent choice for seniors who live alone or don’t have a lot of family and friends nearby. It also works well for short-term respite care. The primary caregiver gets a much-needed break, and the senior loved one has fun interacting with another caring person. And of course, companion care is included in our signature live-in care service.
Cottingham Home Care LLC’s extensive senior companion care services include meal monitoring, transportation planning visits and trips, help with minor tasks, and of course, companionship.
Homemaker Care
Helping you find joy in your house again
As we age, a big part of happiness depends on being comfortable and cared for at home. Home is where memories have been made, and are still being created.
When caring for the home becomes a burden the unwelcome thought of moving strikes.
Should you live in a home you’re unhappy with—one that’s getting cluttered and dusty because you can’t do the chores like you used to? Should you learn to cope with eating less because it’s difficult to shop and cook? Should you give up your pet because you can’t care for it? Should you put up with wrinkled or dirty clothes?
Should you move away from home?
There is another option: Cottingham Home Care LLC’s homemaker care. We make your house into that special place again. We do the chores and provide those tender loving touches that make you comfortable. Ultimately, our homemaker care can help you or a loved one remain where you want to be—home.
Personal Care
Senior care that keeps you home
As we mature, our needs change. The things that were once simple to perform become complicated.
At Preferred Care at Home, we understand that and want to be there for you, by your side, every step of the way. We can provide you or your loved one assistance and direction with all your personal-care needs called “activities of daily living.”

Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care
Helping you stay safe and respected at home
If you or your parent has Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia, you’re not alone. After all, on average, every four seconds someone is diagnosed with dementia, according to the World Health Organization. Yet facing the disease can feel so isolating, so overwhelming. Our in-home Dementia and Alzheimer’s care can help.
As advocates for quality dementia care, Cottingham Home Care LLC has cared for hundreds of clients with dementia across the nation. Our specially trained, compassionate caregivers allow our clients to safely remain home, or in the home of a family member.
End-of-Life Care
Tender, loving comfort and support
As you wind down in life, you may need someone in your home around-the-clock for total peace of mind. The support our end-of-life care team delivers is a constant source of comfort.
At Cottingham Home Care LLC, we partner with hospices to care for people as they approach life’s final transition. Our caregivers are specially trained in end-of-life care. Depending on your needs, they may, for example, prepare easy-to-eat foods, read to you, and watch for discomfort and summon health-care providers if needed.
With end-of-life care, we help people who are dying remain in the peace and comfort of their beloved home. If a hospice facility is required, however, we also provide loving services there.
After the person dies, the caregiver will also take care of the immediate tasks that need to be done:
-
Notifying the appropriate people
-
Providing privacy and dignity
End-of-life care is also available on a short-term respite basis. Our trained, compassionate aides give the family caregiver time to rejuvenate or accomplish tasks that must be seen to. However long you need us, we’ll be there.
If you’d like to discuss how we can help you or a loved one with our home care services, please contact us today to experience the Cottingham Home Care LLC difference. We are committed to supporting you through every stage of life with respect and compassion.
Hospital-to-Home Transition Care
Transition care—changing a downhill slope to a recovery triumph
You’ve probably seen it with loved ones. An elderly person checks out of a hospital or nursing home only to be readmitted within a few months. During the transition, medications weren’t taken, doctor appointments weren’t made and chronic illnesses weren’t cared for. The downward spiral seems unstoppable, the medical bills never-ending. And you’re at a loss for what to do. At least one in five people with Medicare are readmitted to the hospital within one month of discharge.
But what if hospital care were different? Instead of sending elderly people home alone with confusing instructions and to-do lists, what if we also sent a coach—a trained expert to guide, encourage and empower? What if that transition care service were affordable?
At Cottingham Home Care LLC, this isn’t a pipe dream. We’re making it a reality through our innovative Smooth-Transition Care program.
